Do you want to put a rainbow flag up, but want to make sure that your staff and space are equipped to support and protect LGBTQ+ youth? How can you assess your location for LGBTQ+ inclusion? This training will provide participants with an overview of terminology, rights and laws, and will focus on how to create a welcoming and supportive workplace, how to back up your “safe space” sticker with tangible actions, and how to constructively address community push-back.

School Engagement Coordinator (they/them)

Cassie is the School Engagement Coordinator and comes to OUT Maine from the Education profession where they taught elementary music for seven years. They have a Masters in Music Education from Florida State University and have been an advocate for teacher and student wellness through serving as a union representative, community school advisory board member, school leadership teams, and district curriculum development teams. Cassie continues to serve the education community as the Maine Music Educators Association executive board Secretary. Cassie lives in Southern Maine with her fiance and beagle mix, Maggie.
