The Maine Economic Growth Council released the 2011 edition of the annual Measures of Growth in Focus economic report.  This year's report highlights 25 indicators measuring Maine's progress toward long-term, sustainable economic growth.

The Growth Council awards Gold Stars to indicators that demonstrate exceptional performance and assigns Red Flags to indicators of particular concern.  This year, the Council awarded Gold Stars to International Exports and Conservation Lands.  Red Flags were given to Research and Development Expenditures, Cost of Doing Business, and Cost of Health Care, as well as a new indicator, Fourth Grade Reading Scores.
