Measures of Growth 2016
The Maine Economic Growth Council and Maine Development Foundation are pleased to present Measures of Growth 2016, the 22nd annual report on the key indicators that measures Maine’s progress toward long-term economic growth and a high quality of life for all Maine people.
Highlighting the report are three indicators awarded gold stars for exceptional performance (Cost of Doing Business, Air Quality, and Water Quality) and five assigned red flags, highlighting a need for particular attention (Research and Development Expenditures, Postsecondary Educational Attainment, Fourth Grade Reading Scores, Eighth Grade Math Scores, and Transportation Infrastructure). Overall, three indicators made progress relative to their benchmarks, eight lost ground, and ten saw no significant movement.
