Adopt-A-Benchmark Program

The performance measures in Measures of Growth serve as indicators of progress. They illustrate trends that Maine has experienced in the past and facilitate planning for the future. For each performance measure, the Growth Council has set benchmarks: targets of where we would like to be on each measure at a specific time in the future.

The Maine Economic Growth Council encourages your organization to Adopt-A-Benchmark from Measures of Growth. This program was created to strengthen existing relationships with those organizations, agencies, and businesses that play an active role in achieving the benchmarks established by the Growth Council. This is a way for your organization to be recognized for the work you are doing in promoting Maine's long-term economic growth.

Adoption Papers

To adopt a benchmark, you must fill out and return the Adoption Papers along with a $15 per benchmark adoption fee. The adoption fee is waived for Maine Development Foundation members. You will be awarded with an Adopt-A-Benchmark framed certificate for your office and will receive press coverage and recognition at MEGC events.

Adoption Renewal Papers

To renew the adoption of a benchmark, you must fill out and return the Adoption Renewal Papers along with a $10 per benchmark renewal fee. The renewal fee is waived for Maine Development Foundation members. You will be awarded with an updated certificate for your office and will receive press coverage and recognition at MEGC events.

Progress Report

Progress Reports are due July 15th, 2008 and should cover progress from June 30, 2007 to June 30, 2008.

Gold Star Awards

Gold Star Awards will be presented at the 2008 MDF Annual Meeting being held at the Augusta Civic Center on the September 18, 2008; Gold Star Award recipients will be notified prior to the Annual Meeting. Winners will also be showcased on the MDF website and in The Catalyst, MDF's newsletter.

It is possible to adopt more than one benchmark, and a benchmark may be adopted by more than one organization or agency.

Please contact Lisa Merrill at the Maine Development Foundation with any questions about the program.
