CDBG Funding Information: Maine Downtowns Need You!

The Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) has put $300,000 in Downtown Revitalization Grants into the 2017 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program Statement. That is good news, however, we still need letters asking for continued support of the Maine Downtown Center which provides much needed Technical Assistance, education and serves as the Coordinator for Maine’s National Main Street Program. We also need to ask for the return of CDBG Revitalization Grants to higher levels as in previous years. In 2010 those community grants were $600,000 and in 2000 they were $1.2 million.

On November 4, 2016 the public hearing will be held at DECD, Cross Office Building, 111 Sewall Street, 3rd Floor, 11:00am.

Persons wishing to submit comments in writing are encouraged to do so, by submitting correspondence to Deborah Johnson, Director, via email only: Deborah.Johnson@maine.gov on or before 4:00 PM, November 14, 2016 and cc. Nancy Smith, Downtown Alliance of Maine, nsmith@growsmartmaine.org
