Waterville Initial Priorities

1. Hire a director for the Main Street Program by September 2001
2. Establish Main Street Committees by October 2001
3. Conduct an inventory of existing buildings in the downtown areas
4. Conduct educational outreach about historic preservation
5. Develop design and sign criteria
6. Learn about existing marketing efforts and develop new marketing strategies, specifically focusing on special events to create new activities
7. Conduct a downtown needs assessment survey
8. Develop plans for housing and business retention, expansion and recruitment downtown
9. Develop a long-term sustainability plan for Waterville Main Street
10. Create a downtown business technical assistance program
