Gardiner Initial Priorities

 

1.    Renovate the historic Manson & Church Building

  1. Rehabilitate and repair the rear portion of water street building facades
  2. Redesign and reconstruct the Arcade parking lot to accommodate downtown Gardiner’s parking needs
  3. Rehabilitate East Water Street Area: Purchase and demolish the Bailey Building and create vehicular and pedestrian connections between East Water Street and the waterfront. Gardiner Savings will construct a parking lot, contribute to waterfront development and rehabilitate three vacant buildings in the area
  4. Expand Shop n’ Save and convert building to Laundromat/dry cleaning business
  5. Fix approximately 1,790 feet of sidewalk and curbing
  6. Pursue original waterfront trail concept
  7. Undertake preliminary engineering of extension of rail-trail along the north bank of the Cobbossee stream.
  8. Replace streetlights throughout the downtown
  9. Hire an architect, inventory downtown buildings and design shared elevator and other access improvements
  10. Conduct a housing conditions assessment
