Gardiner Initial Priorities
- Rehabilitate
and repair the rear portion of water street building facades
- Redesign
and reconstruct the Arcade parking lot to accommodate downtown Gardiner’s
parking needs
- Rehabilitate
East Water Street Area: Purchase and demolish the Bailey Building and
create vehicular and pedestrian connections between East Water Street and
the waterfront. Gardiner Savings will construct a parking lot, contribute
to waterfront development and rehabilitate three vacant buildings in the
area
- Expand
Shop n’ Save and convert building to Laundromat/dry cleaning business
- Fix approximately
1,790 feet of sidewalk and curbing
- Pursue
original waterfront trail concept
- Undertake
preliminary engineering of extension of rail-trail along the north bank of
the Cobbossee stream.
- Replace
streetlights throughout the downtown
- Hire an
architect, inventory downtown buildings and design shared elevator and
other access improvements
- Conduct
a housing conditions assessment
