Maine Development Foundation (MDF) is seeking a Program Associate II

The Program Associate II reports to the Manager of Program Support & Events and provides administrative, program and technical support for MDF program and services. He or she will work closely with the President, VP of Programs, Program Directors, Finance & Administration Director, Executive and Finance Associate and the Communications & Outreach Director. This position requires excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills, strong computer skills and website knowledge.

MDF provides leadership, trusted research, and creative cross-sector partnerships to enable Maine business, community, and policy leaders to drive Maine’s long-term economic growth. Created in statute in 1977, MDF is a private, non-profit, non-partisan membership organization working with leaders statewide for sustainable growth. Our signature programs include Measures of Growth for the Maine Economic Growth Council, Leadership Maine, Policy Leaders Academy for the Maine Legislature, Next Step Maine Employers’ Initiative, the Maine Downtown Center and the Realize Maine Network. Duties and Responsibilities
1. Supports programs, events, projects and administration
• Primary support for Maine Downtown Center, Forest Economy Project, Communication and Engagement
• Secondary support for Leadership Maine, Policy Leaders Academy, Realize Maine
2. Performs wide range of administrative duties including:
• project tracking and reporting system
• word processing of a wide range of correspondence and reports
• maintaining, updating and organizing program files and database
• mailings to members and program participants
• answering telephone
• coordinates scheduling of appointments and meetings
3. Handles logistics for conferences and meetings.
4. Back-up for finance support functions

Technology and Communications
1. Supports development and implementation of the technology plan
2. Supports development and implementation of the Communications and Engagement plan
3. Coordinates the production of reports and marketing materials.
4. Provides technical assistance for computer and software issues/questions oversees and maintains MDF’s website, social networking sites and databases.
5. Actively guides and trains in use of new technology applications (i.e. tablets) and social media (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Blogs, etc.).

1. Five to ten years of increasingly responsible program and administrative support experience.
2. Ability to manage multiple internal clients, programs and projects.
3. Excellent grammar, writing and communication skills.
4. Ability to plan, to organize, and to manage work priorities, while remaining flexible.
5. Ability to work independently and make judgment calls where appropriate.
6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with executives, staff, and public
7. Ability to independently compose a variety of correspondence.
8. Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
9. Ability to think creatively and to identify and resolve problems.
10. Ability to attend to detail and maintain accuracy while managing multiple tasks in a high volume work environment.
11. Knowledge of Microsoft programs, Adobe CS3, website development, social media and tablet applications.
12. Up to date with current technology trends.
